H2S is a frequently encountered gas in the oil and natural gas industry, waste water installations, paper- and pulp industry. Already a very low concentration it gives an annoying smell (rotten eggs) and at higher concentration it can be fatal.

For manageable measurements of the MAC value (20 ppm H2S) a variety of instruments is available. These instruments are however incapable for measurements in the ppb area. H2S concentration from 60 ppb are already very disturbing.

The 631X portable H2S measurement is especially designed for low concentration measurement of smell and odor, but is also usable for leak detection and corrosion control. The instrument utilizes a patented gold film sensor for quick and accurate determination of H2S in the environment. A simple, push-button operation allows users to carry out a concentration measurement in just seconds.

The measuring range of the 631X is from 1 ppb to 50 ppm H 2 S. The measurement is stable and selective for H2S and has no cross-fertilization for SO2 , CO2 , CO and water vapor.

When the sample button is pressed, an internal pump draws air into the instrument. Any hydrogen sulfide in the sample is absorbed by the sensor which registers a proportional change in electrical resistance. The hydrogen sulfide concentration is displayed on the LCD, where it remains until the next sample is taken. Locked in survey mode, the 631-X automatically displays hydrogen sulfide concentrations as quickly as every 3 seconds. The easy to use operation, the quick and accurate measurements and the light weight ( 3 kg ) of the analyser see to it that the 631X is universally applicable.

The instrument can be executed with data logger and computer communication interfaces.
